Museum publications
The beginning of the publishing activity of the National Museum in Leskovac is correlated with the opening of the Museum’s library in 1950 and the publication of the first publication “Old Leskovac as an educational and cultural center” by Sergi Dimitrijević.
Professional and scientific research and achievements in the field of archaeology, ethnology, history and art of the Leskovac area were presented through a rich and high-quality publishing activity. By publishing their works, museum experts, local researchers and other researchers of Southeastern Serbia contribute to the goal and task of popularizing cultural heritage, preserving tradition, getting to know cultural and historical value, and contribute to the educational role of the museum.
Since 1961, the National Museum started publishing the magazine Leskovački zbornik, a multidisciplinary yearbook that was categorized by the Matric Committee for History, Archeology and Ethnology at the Ministry of Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia as a top magazine of national importance – M51.
The museum regulated its publishing activities through its libraries: the Library of the National Museum in Leskovac, Special Editions, the Workers’ Movement and Socialist Revolution Library, the Građa Library for the History of the Revolutionary Workers’ Movement, the Cultural-Historical Heritage Library, and the Children’s Library.
