Prehistoric Collection
The collection holds archaeological objects that testify to the continued life span of the territory covered by the National Museum in Leskovac, dating from the Middle Neolithic period until the arrival of the Romans in the 1st century AD. The collection contains over a thousand objects made of ceramics, stone, metal and bone, originating from the systematic reconnaissance of the Leskovac area, led by Milutin Garašanin and Jovan Kovačević, and minor excavations at Medveđa and Mala Grabovnica, with the revision excavations at Gradac near Zlokućane, reconnaissance of archeological sites in the municipalities of the Region during the 1970’s, archaeological excavations in the church of St. John the Forerunner in Jašunja, Skobaljić Grad, Vrapce, on location Kale near Grdelica, and Hisar in Leskovac.
