Collection of handicrafts

The handicraft collection contains a variety of items that have been used in all phases of the complex process of home textile production. The basic material from which the items in the Collection are made is wood, and if necessary, metal parts were added. Most of the items are home-made, while handicraft products are less represented. The primary criterion in the classification of a collection of handicrafts is the function of the objects.

Classification of the Collection of domestic handicrafts: devices and aids for the textile production:

  • devices for processing fibres (mortars, “trlice”, knives, razorblades, combs, “čarks”, brushes…),
  • weaving devices and aids (scissors, wool basket, winder, fans, small, large spindles, spool spindles, winches…),
  • patterns and accessories for sewing, embroidery and knitting, household tools.

The collection includes 184 items created in the interval from the second half of the 19th to the middle of the 20th century.
